The publishers of the First Nations College Guide are pleased to award a bursary of $250 to Danielle Bruce. We are proud to support this ambitious, idealistic young woman in her educational pursuits, and wish her all the best in her chosen career path.

Danielle consistently holds herself to the highest academic standards and takes her learning very seriously. She pushes herself to get high grades and is seldom content with any result that falls short of the targets she sets. Danielle is polite, well-spoken and kind to her fellow classmates, and it has been my experience that she treats people with kindness and respect.

From taking a leadership role in tackling issues relating to social and environmental injustice to helping fellow students better understand their math and science homework, Danielle has consistently demonstrated that she values the lives of other people.

Danielle Bruce is a capable and conscientious person whose commitment to her studies and community is uncommon. This fine young woman has big plans and I recommend her to you wholeheartedly.

In Her Own Words

I have decided to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry. In the future, I plan on pursuing a medical degree at a Canadian university. It's my aim to be able to use my education to help others in our community, and the world.

I believe it is my duty to serve and help others. Some of my volunteer commitments include organizing a school-wide "Day of Silence" to inform others of violence towards homosexuals, fundraising monies to build a school-house in Peru, and volunteering to fundraise foods to send to the Mustard Seed Food Bank. I also tutor in mathematics, and often help peers with class homework.

I am an extremely hard-working, focused student. I always put the maximum amount of effort into every assignment or endeavor I take on, whether it is related to school, work, volunteering, friends or family.
